There is something particularly intimate about this SoulTone. We Are One Within One carries a sensual current that has been part of the love Sherman and I have shared throughout our more than forty years together—the meeting of two distinct beings through love, intimacy, creativity, and the life we have created together. Long before there was a song or a film, there was a painting. I created this Soul Portrait as I create all of my Soul Portraits—by entering the Akashic Field, attuning to the unique frequency held there, and allowing what I receive to emerge on the canvas without knowing beforehand what will appear. As the painting revealed itself, I began to recognize our own story within it: two beings, each held within their own sovereign field, facing one another in relationship; the blooming, living field created between us; and three small jewels along the center—our three children, each carrying their own unique SoulTone into the world. Years later, I entered that field again and created We Are One Within One as a SoulTone for Sherman. The music speaks through the language of the body and the natural world—soil and sun, water and flame, hands and skin, roots and blooming. It is a love that is not only spiritual and emotional, but embodied. Bloom within bloom,​ ​heat within water,​ ​breath within breath—​ ​we are one within one. And then something delicious emerged. I wondered aloud what it might feel like for the painting to move with the music. Sherman sat with that thought until his own creative spark arrived—and then he followed it. Through his eyes, the painting became a cinematic experience of color, movement, intimacy, and relationship. Somehow, the sensuality I had felt within the painting and the SoulTone found yet another expression through him. And perhaps that is what touches me most about this creation. Sherman and I are very different people and very different creators. We each need the freedom to follow what arises within us. Yet sometimes our individual creative currents meet, and something is born that neither of us could have created alone. After more than forty years together, We Are One Within One feels like a reflection of something at the very heart of our relationship. We can remain fully ourselves and still open deeply enough to be changed, inspired, and awakened by the meeting.
